The SHS forms part of the wider Student Services team, which operates within the Office for Students and Learning, and provides a range of medical and mental health supports to the student population.

We are seeking to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to lead and develop a specialist psychiatry service within the Student Health Service. The successful candidate will provide consultant-led psychiatric care to the student population, delivering high-quality, evidence-based mental health assessment, diagnosis, and treatment as part of a multidisciplinary student healthcare team.

Reporting to the Head of Student Health, who in turn reports to the Director of Student Services, the Consultant Psychiatrist will play a key role in shaping and enhancing the University’s mental health service provision. In addition to providing clinical expertise, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to further develop and expand the range of services offered by the SHS, ensuring that they continue to meet the evolving needs of both the students and the University.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist seeking a rewarding role within a university setting. The post is 0.4FTE (two days per week), operating on a term-time basis (September to June) with July and August being designated as non-working months.

Salary:

Senior Administrator I (2026):€147,197- €186,094 p.a. (pro rata 0.4FTE, term time only) (6 points)

Appointments will be made in accordance with public sector pay provisions.
