Summary of Duties:
Design and lead first-year Academic Inquiry Seminars for non-native speakers of English and consult with students in the Writing Resource Center. Design and lead other writing intensive seminars including creative writing, professional and technical or scientific communication courses. Design and lead other undergraduate courses
Also teaches the following courses:
- AIAE 100: Academic English: This course is designed to improve the fundamental reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills of students for whom English is not their first language.
- AIQS 120: Academic Inquiry Seminar: This course, specifically designed for non-native speakers of English, develops the habits of mind and writing/communication processes that characterize academic discourse.
- ENGL 146: English Grammar for Writers: This course provides an introduction to English grammar in context for academic writers. It focuses on the study of language in use, including parts of speech, sentence grammar, paragraph structure, and text cohesion.
- ENGL 147: Writing Across Disciplines: In this course, students will develop their genre knowledge and metacognitive skills to prepare for the advanced writing, reading, and research tasks required in upper-level writing and disciplinary courses across the university.
Qualifications:
PhD in TESOL, Second Language Acquisition, Second Language Writing, Applied Linguistics, English, Philosophy, Composition and Rhetoric, or related field of study and one (1) year of experience as Lecturer, Graduate Teaching Assistant, or related role.
Salary Range: $63,336 to $65,236 per year
