A Technical Assistant/Laboratory Assistant provides routine support to facilities for housekeeping including waste management, wash up, media preparation and autoclaving.
This role will:
- Coordinate deliveries, inventory storage and maintenance of supplies, labware and instruments.
- Carry out laboratory housekeeping and support services including monitoring use of equipment, basic equipment maintenance, and delivery of lab consumables.
- Maintain registers for laboratory equipment and consumables to ensure compliance.
- Ensure all laboratory safety practices are implemented according to SWPs.
- Removal of waste in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Cooperate with all health & safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the psychosocial or physical health and safety of yourself or others.
A person engaged is generally expected to have the following skills and experience:
- Previous experience in basic laboratory assistance.
- Completion of a relevant certificate and previous experience in basic laboratory assistance.
