This PhD project investigates the social dynamics between individuals from diverse backgrounds and the complex interplay between the individual and society within sporting contexts. The research examines micro-level relationships (such as those between coaches and athletes, peers, and parents and children) while situating them within broader macro-level frameworks. The project aims to provide a critical analysis of how potentially abusive practices and social interactions are shaped by, or exert an influence on, socio-cultural and organisational conditions, including sport-specific cultures, institutional structures and evolving societal values and norms.

Ideal candidates for this project may have a background in Sport Coaching/Pedagogy, Sociology (of Sport), Sport Management or related fields, with experience in using qualitative research methods.
