The Promise Program Scholar Advisor, Lead position supports the strategic growth and operational management of Promise Programs. This role provides direct supervision to Promise Coaches, maintains an active coaching caseload, and serves as a primary liaison to school district partners. This position ensures that information pertinent to Promise Programs stakeholders is collected, catalogued, and communicated efficiently and effectively. The Promise Program Scholar Advisor, Lead serves all Promise Program students at all Pikes Peak State College campuses and maintains effective, professional relationships with all Promise Program partners. We have two openings for this position.
Reports to: Director of Promise Programs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Demonstrated experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and/or underserved populations.
- Two years of professional experience in academic advising, counseling, social services, secondary or post-secondary student success coaching, teaching or student services.
Professional level experience is defined by the Colorado Division of Human Resources: A position that involves the exercise of discretion, analytical skill, judgment, personal accountability, and responsibility for creating, developing, integrating, applying, or sharing an organized body of knowledge. Colorado revised statute (C.R.S. 24-50-135(1) allows colleges to exempt positions from the State Personnel Classified System that are determined to be professional level work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience working in a higher education setting with college students.
- Demonstrated experience in public speaking, teaching, facilitating workshops, or small group facilitation.
- Demonstrated small team leadership and supervisory experience.
- Ability to read, write, and speak fluent Spanish
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supports the Director of Promise Programs with the implementation, development, and delivery of the academic advising and success coaching model for the Promise Scholars Program
- Maintains an active caseload of Program Scholars and follows caseload management protocols
- Directly supervises and mentors Promise Program success advisors/coaches and their respective student engagement protocols
- Supports the onboarding and training for all Program success advisors/coaches
- Holds regular team and individual meetings with direct reports
- Serves on committees and workgroups as required or assigned by the Director of Promise Programs
- Identifies and coordinates professional development opportunities for direct reports
- Helps to maintain and collect data as well as all other required and/or requested reports
- Supports the Promise Team in planning and delivering institution wide programming, including campus activities, workshops, seminars, and orientations that support the Program
- At the direction of the Director prepares and presents reports to partner institutions, foundations, institutional leadership, and funders when required
- Markets program specifics and benefits to internal and external institutional stakeholders
- Develops and maintains collaborative working relationships with institutional partners like Advising & Testing, Enrollment Services, Tutoring, and Career Services as well as with the other departments and divisions within the institution
- Represents PPSC at the Colorado Community College System level at the discretion of the Director
- Helps to ensure that the Promise Scholars Program webpages are up to date and accurate
- Serve when requested on institutional and community committees concerned with institutional success and the specific success of the Promise Scholars Program initiative
- Assists the Director of Promise Programs with personnel matters, departmental and employee training and assessment, change management, and goal implementation
- At the direction of the Director develops and maintains a workable schedule for all full and part-time direct reports to meet the demands of the academic year, special events, staff meetings, and student needs
- Oversees day to day workload assignments, monitoring and approving leave, directing, controlling, planning and organizing the work activities of the assigned team members
- Works collaboratively with partner departments and relevant secondary institutions to achieve program recruitment and retention goals
- Facilitates informational workshops and classroom presentations as requested and needed
- Partners with the Academic Resources Leadership Team as a resource for division events and activities.

- Aid in planning, development, coordination, facilitation, and evaluation of communication strategies regarding Library and Learning Commons services.

- Demonstrated evidence and understanding of the concepts of diversity and multiculturalism and their application in the workplace and higher education.
- Experience utilizing technology to provide synchronous and asynchronous services to students.
- Experience with public speaking and group educational presentations.
- Experience developing traditional or web-based programming and materials for workshops, services, and special events.
- Excellent computer skills working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to prepare effective written communications utilizing correct grammar and spelling.
- Skills in organization and accurate recordkeeping with strict attention to detail and student privacy issues.
- Ability to professionally and tactfully interact, communicate, establish rapport and work collaboratively with a wide variety of constituents, including students, faculty, staff, and community members and organizations.
- Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
- Position requires energetic, flexible team members willing to work occasional evenings and Saturdays to accommodate programming needs; travel between all campuses as needed.
- Ability to work evenings and Saturdays as needed, and travel to multiple campuses and off campus locations.
- Adhere to college policies and procedures.
