The Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital of Gießen and Marburg GmbH, Marburg site, are seeking to fill a Professorship (W3) in Radiology as soon as possible.

The professorship covers the field of radiology in research, teaching, and patient care and includes the directorate of the Clinic of Radiology. The professorship is organised within a center structure comprised of two independently managed institutes, namely radiology and neuroradiology. The clinical study office, the student’s office, and the curriculum for radiology/neuroradiology are to be jointly operated by both institutes. The institute is excellently equipped with state-of-the-art instruments, including a hybrid angio-CT scanner and a photon-counting CT scanner.

The professorship is responsible for providing radiological care, both in the diagnosis of a wide range of disease patterns and in their interventional (minimally invasive) treatment. This also includes pediatric radiology services for the Clinic for Pediatrics. A significant collaboration with the national-level Comprehensive Cancer Centre (CCC) Marburg, funded by the German Cancer Aid, is also expected.

In terms of research, the professorship is expected to contribute the research focus areas of the Medical Faculty and to actively contribute to its research networks. The successful candidate should pursue the development of novel research approaches, for example regarding the implementation and further development of artificial intelligence in radiology. He/she shall also be particularly committed to the raising of competitive external funds.

The responsibilities associated with the professorship include a strong commitment to teaching, as well as participation in curriculum development (including the continued implementation of the National Competence-Based Learning Objectives Catalog for Medicine, NKLM) and in interdisciplinary teaching projects. Active participation in programs to support young talents and the Clinician Scientist Program of the Faculty of Medicine is expected.

We are seeking a candidate (f/m/d) with excellent clinical expertise in the field of radiology and several years of leadership experience in diagnostic and interventional radiology. Proven leadership skills, as well as strong teamwork abilities and expertise in team development, are required. The profile should also include an outstanding publication record and a successful track record in competitive third-party funding, as well as a strong interest in interdisciplinary cooperation. In addition, the candidate should possess well-established teaching skills and experience.

The requirements for appointment include a completed university degree in medicine, board certification in radiology, teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree, and, in addition, academic achievements demonstrated by a habilitation or equivalent qualifications, or achieved in the context of a junior professorship.
