Job Summary
The Master of Archival Studies program invites applications for a part-time faculty position to teach in its fully online, asynchronous graduate program. The successful candidate will teach one course per semester:
- Fall Semester: ARST 5150 - Preservation of Archival Records
- Spring Semester: ARST 5170 - Reference, Access, and Outreach
Course topics may include archives, preservation techniques of archival materials in all analog formats, threats and security measures, deterioration, community outreach, reference services, confidentiality, access rights and restrictions, and customer service. Additional strengths in records management and conservation measures are highly desirable.
Required Qualifications
- One or more of the following credentials:
- Master of Archival Studies
- Master of Library Science with archival concentration (18 hours)
- Master of Library and Information Science with archival concentration (18 hours)
- Master of History with archival concentration (18 hours)
- Master's degree in a related field with certification by the Academy of Certified Archivists
- Eligibility to hold graduate faculty status at Clayton State University
- Authorization to work in the United States by the time of appointment
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification by the Academy of Certified Archivists (CA) or the Institute for Certified Records Managers (CRA or CRM)
- Demonstrated or potential excellence in teaching archival studies
- Experience engaging students in online learning environments
- Minimum of three years of professional experience as an archivist or records manager
- Doctoral degree obtained or in progress
