Idaho State University operates the Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP) to support independent radiological monitoring of the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) site and environs by a state institution and to offer educational opportunities for students. Students learn environmental research techniques, analytical skills, and the regulatory aspects of monitoring.
