a pay rate of $16/hour. The technician will be primarily responsible for monitoring GPS-collared deer via online software and radio telemetry, and conducting field investigations of deer mortalities. The applicant will also assist in managing databases, summarizing data, and preparing mortality investigation reports. Further, the candidate will serve as the local point of contact between state agency personnel, private landowners, and the researchers in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. Weekly schedules and hours are very flexible, however mortality investigations are time sensitive, as samples and evidence can degrade quickly.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Computer monitoring of animals and office work (50%)
• Radio telemetry monitoring of animals (25%)
• Field investigations (25%)

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification

High school diploma and at least one year of experience in wildlife-related field.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Ability to monitor animals using GPS computer software applications, via radio telemetry in the field, and through on-the-ground field investigations.

Physical Demands

Walk more than one mile in field conditions and lift 50 pounds. Driving as needed per job duties.
