Position Summary
University College Cork (UCC) wishes to appoint a Consultant Psychiatrist to work 2 days per week within the Student Health Department.
Reporting to the Head of Student Health, the successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team consisting of General Practitioners, nurses, physiotherapists, and administrative staff.
The appointee will be responsible for delivering expert clinical psychiatric care and ensuring the provision of a safe, high-quality psychiatric service for students at University College Cork.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert psychiatric assessment and treatment for students.
- Provide safe, high-quality psychiatric care within the Student Health Department.
- Diagnose and treat students, including those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary student health team.
- Engage with the wider student welfare team to deliver integrated mental health care.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional learning and development.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate should have:
- Experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist.
- Experience in diagnosing and treating individuals with ADHD.
- A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning.
- Ability to work closely with the wider student welfare team to provide coordinated mental health services.
Garda Vetting
Please note that Garda Vetting and/or an international police clearance check may form part of the selection process.
Salary
Appointment may be made on the HSE Consultant (Clinician) Type A Contract salary scales:
- Scale B: €174,354 – €251,669 (pro rata)
- Scale A: €214,087 – €256,997 (pro rata)
Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
