Position Summary
The CE Career & Technical Education Department is recruiting for one full time, temporary instructor to teach Commercial Truck Driving. Position to be filled as quickly as possible. Class size is limited to four students per tractor.

Duties & Responsibilities
Regular faculty members help students achieve learning outcomes by teaching assigned classes in accordance with established guidelines and policies and participate in advising and committee assignments, other academic and institutional support activities, and supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree with a minimum of 3 years related work experience or
- In lieu of a degree, 5 years combined truck driving and teaching truck driving experience
- Active/Current Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Current medical examination certificate and medical report issued by the Department of Transportation (DOT)
- Must provide driving record
- Must be willing to submit to DOT drug & alcohol testing
- Must be willing to submit to a background check
- Must be willing to submit to a driver evaluation
- Expertise in 49 CRF Part 380, Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT mandate)
- Endorsements (tanker, doubles, triples) preferred
Physical Demands
Essential Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods (up to 4-5 hours) in order to provide timely, relevant, and effective instruction to students in various training environments.
- Ability to safely climb into and out of commercial motor vehicles multiple times throughout the workday, including elevated cab access.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach when inspecting vehicles, conducting pre-trip/post-trip inspections, and demonstrating equipment functions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move instructional materials, safety equipment, or vehicle components (typically up to 25–50 pounds as needed).
- Adequate visual acuity to observe student driving performance, monitor traffic conditions, and ensure safe operation of vehicles.
- Adequate hearing ability to communicate effectively with students in and out of the vehicle, including in environments with background noise.
- Ability to operate instructional vehicles and safety equipment in a variety of weather and roadway conditions.
- Ability to maintain alertness and concentration for extended periods while supervising student drivers in real-time traffic environments.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate vehicle controls, communication devices, and instructional tools.
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency or high-stress driving situations to ensure student and public safety
