Faculty are assigned a designated home campus, which serves as the primary site for in-person teaching and determines mileage for required travel to clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities
The Clinical Assistant Professor provides instruction in undergraduate nursing courses across classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
Responsibilities include facilitating student learning, evaluating student performance, integrating evidence-based practice and clinical judgment into teaching, and collaborating with faculty to ensure consistent, high-quality educational experiences across campuses.
Faculty participate in curriculum development, implementation, assessment, and continuous quality improvement to ensure alignment with AACN Essentials, CCNE accreditation standards, licensure requirements, and program outcomes. Responsibilities may also include mentoring adjunct faculty, clinical instructors, and instructional support personnel, and collaborating with clinical partners and preceptors to support student learning.
Following onboarding, faculty are expected to engage in service and shared governance activities, advise students, attend faculty meetings and key School events, participate in committee work, and contribute to initiatives that support student success, program quality, and continuous improvement. Teaching workload may be adjusted to support approved leadership, service, quality improvement, or scholarly activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Earned Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.
- Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States, eligible for licensure in Idaho by the start date.
- Previous teaching experience in undergraduate nursing education, including classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and/or distance learning environments.
- Minimum of two years of professional nursing practice in a patient care setting.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional nursing values, ethical practice, and student-centered education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Earned terminal degree in nursing (e.g., DNP, PhD, EdD, DNAP).
- Previous teaching experience in undergraduate nursing education, including classroom, laboratory, simulation, clinical, and/or online learning environments.
- Demonstrated experience in faculty mentorship, course coordination, clinical education coordination, or program administration.
- Experience with curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement processes in academic or healthcare settings.
- Knowledge of AACN Essentials, CCNE accreditation standards, competency-based education, and nursing licensure requirements.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success through the use of evidence-based, learner-centered teaching strategies.
- Experience working with students and an understanding of the healthcare needs of rural, frontier, underserved, and medically vulnerable communities.
- Active engagement in professional service, scholarly activities, quality improvement initiatives, or leadership within nursing or healthcare organizations.
