Position Description
Harvard Divinity School seeks to appoint an adjunct instructor/lecturer in Advanced Greek to teach one course during the Fall Semester 2026 (from August 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027).
Candidates will be expected to teach a wide range of Greek authors and poets belonging to the Late Antique period, with specific focus on early Jewish and Christian texts that might be of particular interest for students working on early Judaism, the New Testament, early Christianity, and the early Byzantine period. The candidate should be able to focus their teaching on Jewish and Christian apocalyptic literature from the Hellenistic world to Byzantium.
The course must be open and accessible to the Divinity School's multi-religious student body. The appointment title will depend on the finalist's qualifications.
Basic Qualifications
Applicants should demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Completed advanced degree (PhD or ABD candidates preferred)
- Prior experience teaching at the graduate level
- Sensibility to a multi-religious student body.
Publications in the field are desirable, though not required.
