Dr. Vahwere Kavota is Chair and Assistant Professor in the Department of Marketing at Hampton University's James T. George School of Business. He holds a Ph.D. and has made contributions to scholarly research in marketing and business education. His work focuses on social media marketing, advertisement value, brand equity, and faculty evaluation perceptions in higher education business schools.
Kavota co-authored 'The Advertisement Value of Transformational & Informational Appeal on Company Facebook Pages' in the Marketing Management Journal (2017) with Fabienne T. Cadet and Priscilla G. Aaltonen, examining transformational and informational appeals in Facebook advertising. He also contributed to 'Brand Marketing Via Facebook: An Investigation of the Marketing Mix, Consumer-Based Brand Equity, and Brand Loyalty' (2017). Earlier, he co-authored 'The Use of the Activity-Based Matrix Model to Assist Decision Making in Higher Education' and a related paper on assessing departmental effectiveness, both in The Journal of Business and Finance Research around 2010 with Nicoleta Maghear. Additionally, with Franklin D. Gaillard and Sonja P. Mitchell, he published 'Students, Faculty, And Administrators Perception Of Students' Evaluations Of Faculty In Higher Education Business Schools' in a Clute Institute journal.
In departmental leadership, Kavota spearheaded a partnership with Amazon that awarded scholarships to 52 Hampton University School of Business students in 2024, emphasizing innovation and excellence in education. He leads the American Marketing Association chapter at Hampton University and serves as faculty leader for international study abroad programs, such as the trip to Tokyo. Kavota has served on dissertation committees, including for theses on the impact of negative Twitter feeds on Washington Capitals ticket sales and effects of defense spending. He is associated with The Journal of Business and Finance Research through authorship. Located in Ethel Buckman Hall 111, he continues to advance marketing education and research at Hampton University.
