Sara Tomaszewski, PT, DPT, serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Sciences within Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions. She earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2007 and her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Temple University. A board-certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist since 2012, Tomaszewski began her academic career at Drexel as an adjunct instructor in 2008, transitioning to a full-time role in 2013. In the Doctor of Physical Therapy program, she instructs orthopedic and other clinical content, preparing students for clinical practice. Additionally, she acts as an instructor and clinical mentor in the Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency Program, guiding residents through advanced training. Her professional practice at Drexel University Physical Therapy Services, which she joined in 2013, involves delivering holistic, person-centered orthopaedic physical therapy care to the community while mentoring Doctor of Physical Therapy students during direct patient interactions.
Tomaszewski’s research interests encompass orthopedic and sports injuries, chronic pain, and clinical reasoning. She contributed as a co-author to the publication "Atlas PainCare: Preliminary feedback on a chronic pain interprofessional mentoring program," published in The Journal of Pain in 2021, alongside colleagues including Sarah Wenger, Rebecca Vlam, Scott Horowitz, Casey Boone, Jordan Foster, Lana Sommer, Carolyn Moy, Sheri Silfies, Margaret Finely, and Joke Bradt. Through her integrated roles in education, mentorship, and clinical service, Tomaszewski supports the development of competent physical therapists and enhances patient outcomes in orthopaedic care. Her concurrent engagement in teaching and practice reinforces her expertise, fostering skill enhancement in both domains as she mentors students and residents at Drexel University.
