Sanjay Bapna is Professor and Chair of the Department of Information Science and Systems and Interim Associate Dean, Information Science & Systems, in the Earl G. Graves School of Business and Management at Morgan State University. He earned a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, in 1981, an MBA from the University of Iowa in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems from the Department of Management Sciences at the University of Iowa in 1992. With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Bapna specializes in database design, research issues related to data retrieval, information analysis and modeling, analytics, and business intelligence. He serves as an authority on analytics and modeling, as well as commercial vehicle operations.
Dr. Bapna's research focuses on information systems design and data-related issues including modeling and analytics, database design, data retrieval, information analysis, business intelligence, business processes with SAP, data mining, input-output modeling, computer security, cost-benefit analysis, and artificial intelligence for optimization. Ramsey), "Providing an Accurate Performance Measure of the Economic Contribution of the Freight Industry: An Input-Output Analysis" (2019, with H.S. Shin, A. Farkas, and A. Darden et al.), "Industrial Cyber-Espionage" (2015, with J. Hua and Y. Chen), "Rethinking the Impact of Cyber Terrorism on Information Systems Security Investment" (2013, with J. He has received the 2011 Best Paper award, the 2009 Best Paper award from the National Decision Sciences Institute, and the 1994 Best Paper award from the International Association of Computer Information Systems. Dr. Bapna has secured several grants from the Department of Transportation.
