Oli Hazzard serves as Senior Lecturer in the School of English at the University of St Andrews, where he is also affiliated with the Centre for Poetic Innovation. His academic contributions center on poetry and literary studies, with a particular emphasis on the work of John Ashbery. Hazzard has authored multiple collections of poetry that demonstrate innovative approaches to form and process. These include Blotter, published by Carcanet in 2018, Lorem ipsum, published by Prototype Publishing in 2021, and Sleepers Awake, published by Carcanet in 2024 and by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in 2025. In addition to his creative output, Hazzard has produced scholarly work, most notably the monograph John Ashbery and Anglo-American Exchange: The Minor Eras, issued by Oxford University Press in 2018 as part of the Oxford English Monographs series. He has also contributed chapters and articles on related topics, such as a 2016 piece on John Ashbery and F. T. Prince and a 2014 article titled ''Distanced and Intimate': John Ashbery and Lee Harwood' in Symbiosis. Further publications include the 2017 chapbook Graig Syfyrddin, or Edmund's Tump from If a Leaf Falls Press and a 2018 special issue of PN Review titled 'Celebrating John Ashbery,' co-edited with Mark Ford. Hazzard has presented poetry readings and participated in events connected to the Centre for Poetic Innovation at the University of St Andrews.
