Megan Carr, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP, AGSF, serves as Assistant Professor in the Geriatrics Department of Clinical Sciences at High Point University’s Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, a position she has held since August 2021. She is also Director of the Geriatrics Academic Pharmacy Fellowship Program since July 2025, Director of the Lifelong Perspectives & Engagement Experience Program since February 2025, and Clinical Director of Senior Medication Care since February 2024, where she provides medication access and management services for older adults in High Point, North Carolina. As a certified Senior’s Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) Counselor, she offers free unbiased Medicare counseling to community members. Prior to High Point University, Carr was a Geriatrics Clinical Specialist Pharmacist at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, from January 2019 to June 2021, serving as Acute Care for Elders (ACE) Unit Clinical Lead Pharmacist and Assistant Residency Program Director for the PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency. Her academic background includes a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy in 2016, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Studies from the same institution in 2014, PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency and PGY-2 Geriatrics Pharmacy Residency at UPMC St. Margaret in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2016–2018), and a Faculty Development Fellowship at UPMC St. Margaret Department of Family Medicine (2016–2018).
Carr’s scholarly contributions center on geriatric pharmacotherapy, medication access for older adults, and pharmacy education. Notable publications include Schell BR, Katz JR, Carr M, et al. Awards include P3 Teacher of the Year (High Point University, 2023), Tideswell UCSF/AGS/ADGAP Emerging Leaders in Aging Scholar (2023–2024), BERST Academy Outstanding Teaching Award (2020), and UPMC Pharmacy Residency Excellence in Research Award (2018). Carr is co-chair of the Pharmacists Section of the American Geriatrics Society and chair-elect of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Geriatrics Special Interest Group.
