Kevin C. Snow, Ph.D., M.A., NCC, ACS, serves as Assistant Professor of Human Services and HSA Facilitator in the Department of Counseling and Human Services at Old Dominion University. A native Pennsylvanian, he earned his Ph.D. in Counseling from Old Dominion University in 2015. He is a graduate of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Penn State Harrisburg. Prior to his current role, Snow was Associate Professor of Counselor Education, Clinical Mental Health Program Director, and Chair of the Department of Psychology and Counseling at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He previously served as Assistant Professor of Counseling at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Before entering academia, Snow worked 12 years in diverse community mental health clinical settings.
Snow's research interests include spirituality and spiritual competence and inclusion, qualitative research design, advocacy in social justice and diversity issues in the helping professions, and international counseling issues. He has published numerous articles, book chapters, and reports. Key works include co-authoring The Dictionary of Counseling and Human Services (2017) with Edward Neukrug and Mike Kalkbrenner; "Guiding principles for indigenous research practices" (2016, Action Research); "Experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning or queer students at evangelical Christian colleges as described in personal blogs" (2018, Journal of College Counseling); "The importance of advocacy and advocacy competencies in human service professions" (2013, Journal of Human Services); and his dissertation "A Mixed Methods Study of the Intersection of Sexual Orientation and Spiritual Development in the College Experience" (2015). Snow has served on editorial review boards for Counselor Education and Supervision, Journal of Counselor Leadership and Advocacy, and Canadian Journal of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and co-edited the Journal of Human Services. He is active in professional associations such as the National Organization for Human Services, American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, Chi Sigma Iota, International Association of Counselling, and Pennsylvania Counseling Association, where he was past-president of the Northeast Pennsylvania chapter.
