Kevin Chui, PT, DPT, PhD, GCS, OCS, CEEAA, FAAOMPT, is Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy, Associate Dean for Research, and Professor at Radford University in the Waldron College of Health and Human Services. He earned his PhD in Pathokinesiology from New York University in 2005 and his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in 2011. Chui completed a Doctoral Level Academic Certificate in Fellowship in Manual Therapy at Regis University in 2013 and a Certificate in Fellowship in Education Leadership from the Education Leadership Institute of the American Physical Therapy Association in 2012. He holds the Geriatric Certified Specialist designation from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties since 2006, Orthopedic Certified Specialist since 2010, Certified Exercise Expert for Aging Adults from the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy since 2016, Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2013, and Medical Education Research Certificate from the Association of American Medical Colleges since 2020. His research specializations include geriatric physical therapy, orthopedic physical therapy, research methods, orthotics and prosthetics in rehabilitation, screening for osteoporosis risk, physical activity interventions for older adults, effects of high-cadence cycling on Parkinson's disease symptoms, kinesiology taping for hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and mobilization strategies for critically ill patients.
Chui leads the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Radford University Carilion in Roanoke and oversees research efforts as Associate Dean. He previously served as Professor Emeritus in the School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training and Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs in the College of Health Professions at Pacific University. In 2022, he received the Mercedes Weiss Service Award from APTA Oregon for outstanding service in the physical therapy profession. Chui edited Orthotics and Prosthetics in Rehabilitation, 5th Edition (Elsevier, 2025). Key publications include "Screening for Osteoporosis Risk among Community-Dwelling Older Adults: A Scoping Review" (Journal of Geriatric Physical Therapy, 2024), "Pragmatic Approach to Mobilizing the Critically Ill COVID-19 Population: Clinicians' Perspective" (Disability and Rehabilitation, 2024), "Immediate Effects of High-Cadence Cycling on Core Symptoms and Performance-Based Outcomes in Persons with Parkinson Disease" (2023), "Evaluating the Effects of Two Different Kinesiology Taping Techniques on Shoulder Pain and Function in Patients with Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome" (2023), and "Acute Ankle Sprain Management: An Umbrella Review of Systematic Reviews" (Frontiers in Medicine, 2022). With 50 publications and over 1,100 citations, his scholarship impacts rehabilitation practices for aging and orthopedic populations.
