Jason Brumitt is a Professor of Physical Therapy and Director of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at George Fox University. He holds a PhD in orthopaedic and sports science from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, a Master of Science degree in physical therapy from Pacific University, and a Bachelor of Science in business administration from Southern Oregon State College. His clinical experience includes orthopedic and sports physical therapy services in acute care and skilled nursing settings. Brumitt's teaching responsibilities encompass cardiovascular and pulmonary therapeutics, pathophysiology, health and wellness promotion, and research methods within the Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum.
Brumitt's academic interests focus on sports injury epidemiology, blood flow restriction training, and health promotion for individuals with chronic diseases or injuries. His expertise areas include orthopedic rehabilitation, sports injury epidemiology, blood flow restriction training, and health and wellness. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts, three books, and several textbook chapters. Key publications include "Lower Extremity Functional Tests and Risk of Injury in Division III Collegiate Athletes" (2013), "The Role of Massage in Sports Performance and Rehabilitation: Current Evidence and Future Direction" (2008), "Current Concepts of Muscle and Tendon Adaptation to Strength and Conditioning" (2015), "Core Stabilization Exercise Prescription, Part I: Current Concepts in Assessment and Intervention" (2013), and "Blood Flow Restriction Training for the Rotator Cuff: A Randomized Controlled Trial" (2020). In 2017, Brumitt received George Fox University's faculty achievement award for top teacher at the graduate level in physical therapy, recognizing his contributions to education and research in the field.
