Dr. Glenda M. Evans is Chair and Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship in the Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship within Hampton University's James T. George School of Business. She concurrently serves as Executive Director of the Hampton University Workforce Development Enterprise and the Virginia Workforce Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center. Evans joined Hampton University as faculty in 2012 and previously held the position of Chair of the MBA program, where she oversaw the 5-Year MBA, 2-Year MBA (transitioned to the online MBA program), and Ph.D. in Business Administration programs. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from Hampton University between June 2012 and May 2018, with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. In this role, she has demonstrated expertise in academic leadership and program development at a prominent HBCU.
Evans' research interests include management, business, business development, leadership, strategic planning, entrepreneurship, innovation, strategic analysis, business analysis, and organizational development. Her notable publications comprise the 2018 dissertation titled 'A Statistical Model for Predicting Failure of Institutions of Higher Education Using Financial and Other Institutional Parameters' and the 2014 article 'Issues Regarding Flat Tax Plans: Introducing the Evans Plan,' co-authored with P. Michael McLain and published in The Journal of Business and Finance Research, Volume 4, Issue 2, from Hampton University School of Business. She received recognition as a honoree at the 2021 Winter Educational Staff Institute alongside other Hampton University faculty. Evans has significantly contributed to institutional initiatives, including the launch of the $2 million Hampton University Workforce Development Enterprise in 2025, partnerships such as Project REAP for commercial real estate pathways aimed at professional athletes in 2026, and the appointment of Tyrod Taylor as inaugural Entrepreneur-in-Residence. She has presented at Hampton University's Researchers' Informational Forum, served on the Event Committee for HBCU Entrepreneur's Week, and participated as Co-PI in grant projects like the 2020 ESF-RWP application. Her work supports student engagement through programs like the Student Managed Investment Fund and advances workforce readiness and entrepreneurial education.
