About Franci

Franci Crepeau-Hobson is a Professor and Program Director of the School Psychology Program in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado Denver, where she has served since 2006. She earned her Ph.D. in School Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1996, M.A. in Counseling and Psychometrics from the University of Colorado Denver in 1991, and B.A. in Psychology from Metropolitan State College of Denver in 1985. Prior to her current role, she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Northern Colorado from 2000 to 2006, and practiced as a school psychologist in the Denver metro area, including positions at Englewood School District from 1997 to 2000 and Denver Public Schools in 1996-1997. She led the development of the PsyD program in School Psychology at CU Denver and its pursuit of national accreditation. Crepeau-Hobson is a licensed psychologist in Colorado (#2316), licensed school psychologist (#0105187), and nationally certified school psychologist (#30238).

Her research specializations include youth suicide prevention, crisis response and intervention, school violence prevention, psychological assessment, threat assessment, response to intervention for students with disabilities, and peer victimization and suicidal behaviors. She has received the Award for Excellence from the National Association of School Psychologists Crisis Management/Grief Support Interest Group (2018), Excellence in Teaching from CU Denver (2018 and 2013), Distinguished Service Award from the Second Wind Fund Suicide Prevention Program (2016), and Excellence in PREPaRE Crisis Curriculum Implementation from NASP (2015). Crepeau-Hobson serves as Co-Chair of the NASP School Safety and Crisis Response Committee, on editorial boards for School Psychology Quarterly and Assessment for Effective Intervention, and has secured grants including an APA Division 16 grant (2019) and faculty development grants from CU Denver for threat assessment and suicide prevention research.
