About Debra

Debra Moore-Hill, MD, MPH, is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University, where she holds key leadership roles including Chief of the Division of Epilepsy, Vice Chair for Neurology Education, Section Chief of Epilepsy, and Adult Neurology Residency Program Director. She earned her MD from the Medical College of Georgia in 2007 and her MPH in Public Health from Augusta University in 2017. Board-certified in Neurology (2011), Epilepsy (2013), and Clinical Neurophysiology (2013), Dr. Moore-Hill's research specializations include ICU EEG and its clinical applications, epilepsy management in women of reproductive age, vagus nerve stimulation programming, prescribing practices of antiseizure medications for pregnant individuals, spreading depolarization in ischemic stroke, and graduate medical education. Her teaching interests encompass continuous and prolonged ICU EEG, complex epilepsy management in women of childbearing age, epilepsy surgical options, and curriculum development for residents and medical students.

Dr. Moore-Hill has contributed significantly to the literature with publications such as 'Counseling Reproductive-Age Youth With Epilepsy: Literature Review and Expert Opinion From the Epilepsy in the Child-Bearing Ages Through Menopause Consortium' (2025), 'Prescribing Practices of Antiseizure Medications at US Academic Medical Centers for Pregnant People With and Without Epilepsy' (2025), 'Acute-Phase Recording of the Spreading Depolarization Continuum in Aged Nonhuman Primates During Focal Ischemic Stroke' (2025), and 'NORSE Secondary to Anti-GAD65 Antibody Positive Encephalitis Treated with Adjunctive Rapid Titration VNS Protocol' (2025). Among her major awards are the 2025 Undergraduate Medical Education Exemplary Teaching Award, A.B. Baker Teacher Recognition Award (2025), Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology (FAAN, 2024), Fellow of the American Epilepsy Society (FAES, 2024), and the 2024 Medical College of Georgia Faculty Senate Clinical Science Teaching Distinguished Faculty Award. She serves on numerous committees, including chairing the GME Cardiology Special Review Committee, and contributes to departmental quality assurance, institutional reviews, and professional organizations in neurology and neurophysiology.
