Dr. Cindy Hudson is the Dean and Professor in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at North Park University, where she leads with exemplary achievements in scholarship, service, and leadership. Possessing more than 30 years of experience in academic nursing, clinical practice, and research, Dr. Hudson's professional journey includes service as both a military and civilian nurse across the United States and Germany. Her robust academic background features a Doctorate in Nursing Science from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, post-doctoral studies at the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, a post-master’s Certificate in Public Health Nursing from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master of Arts in Management and Supervision from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duquesne University. She is board-certified as a Public Health Clinical Nurse Specialist (PHCNS-BC) and as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE), reflecting her commitment to excellence in public health nursing and education. Before joining North Park University in 2020, Dr. Hudson served as the founding director and chief academic officer of the University of Houston-Victoria nursing program starting in 2016, guiding its development from inception to national accreditation. She also held the position of Dean at Langston University School of Nursing and Health Professions. Her research specializations and academic interests include childhood obesity with an emphasis on African American children, academic clinical partnerships to serve the underserved populations, and interprofessional education. Dr. Hudson has published works and presented on these subjects in nursing and health journals. As Editor-in-Chief of Nursing: Research and Reviews, she advances nursing scholarship, and she has contributed to the field through her role as vice-president of the Association of Community Health Nurse Educators. Her influence extends to editorial reviews and professional organization leadership, fostering ethical, compassionate, and knowledgeable nursing professionals equipped for the healthcare industry.
