About Angela

Professor Angela Owusu-Ansah is the Provost and Professor of Behavioral and Social Sciences Statistics and Research at Ashesi University within the Humanities and Social Sciences department. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration with minors in Quantitative Research and Statistics and Instructional Technology from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from The College of New Jersey (Mallorca), and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Ghana. Bringing over thirty years of academic and administrative experience from institutions in the United States and Ghana, she previously held positions as Assistant Dean of Education Assessment at Samford University, Associate Dean of the School of Education at Elon University, and Associate Dean of Access and Success at Elon University. Owusu-Ansah served as a Board Member for the Southeast Regional Educational Laboratory (SERVE), one of ten Regional Education Laboratories in the United States, contributing to policy direction and implementation supporting educational research. She served 18 years on the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP, formerly NCATE) and is a member of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC). A member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society, she also serves as Regional Vice President for Africa of the International Society for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (ISSOTL) and is part of the editorial team for SOTL Africa journal.

Her research specializations include impact evaluation and change in Africa’s higher education, digitized higher education instruction, the scholarship of teaching and learning, and data acquisition and use for the future of African higher education involving machine learning and research. She contributes to measuring the impact of higher education quality and the development of Africa’s first university ranking system designed to promote southern theory and systems change in African universities.
