Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the astrophysics group, Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics, University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Del Zanna on a range of topics, to improve our understanding of the solar transition region and corona, by combining advanced models with new observations. The first is to make advanced atomic models of the solar transition region and corona available to the community. The second is to further develop the models and apply them to observations (e.g. SoHO/CDS and Solar Orbiter SPICE in the EUV and DKIST in the near infrared) to measure the physical state of the plasma and improve our understanding of the formation of the main spectral lines. The third is to develop improved models and apply to Hinode EIS observations to measure the coronal magnetic field.
