$15.00 - $20.00 per hour based on degree attained.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Help students enhance their mastery of concepts and academic skills in specific subject areas
- Facilitate walk-in or one-on-one study sessions
- Facilitate Small Intensive Study Groups (ISG)s for selected classes
- Coach tutees in study skills, note taking, organization and time management
- Be a source of encouragement and support
- Comply with the Fox Valley Technical College Student Code of Conduct and the National Tutoring Association Code of Ethics
- Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional behavior at all times
- Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions for payroll and program requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in related and appropriate field is preferred. (Based on experience and expertise, an individual with an Associate Degree or equivalent may be considered.)
- Competency in the courses to be tutoring, demonstrated by a final grade of "B" or higher OR currently enrolled in the course and recommended by the course instructor.
- A written recommendation from a Fox Valley Technical College instructor as appropriate.
- Desire to help and encourage students with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, academic ability, and adult students of all ages.
