Training: The successful candidate will receive training in ecological modelling, with a particular focus on IBMs. Training will also be provided in the analysis of ecological datasets.
The student will gain experience in interdisciplinary research through collaboration with academic researchers and conservation practitioners involved in the River Severn restoration programme. Opportunities to participate in fieldwork, scientific conferences and specialist workshops will support both technical and professional development.

Entry requirements: In addition to having (or expect to obtain) a First-Class honours degree, or a Master's degree with distinction, applicants should have a strong background in ecology, environmental science, geography, computer science, or a related discipline.
Essential:
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- An interest in ecological modelling, population ecology, conservation science or freshwater ecology.
- Experience with data analysis and programming (e.g. R and/or Python).
Desirable:
- Experience with ecological or statistical modelling, including individual-based or population models.
- Knowledge of GIS, spatial ecology, Bayesian statistics or environmental data analysis.
