Your responsibilities include

Research in the framework of a joint IGF-project “Environmental Stress Cracking resistance of multiple-recycled PE-HD materials for safety relevant container applications”

Investigation of Environmental Stress Cracking behaviour of relevant polymer materials based on PE-HD after various pre-exposure or multiple processing/recycling steps using the Full Notch Creep Test (FNCT) including subsequent fracture surface analysis, as well as further mechanical and physicochemical methods, comparative thermo-analytical investigations and microscopy (LM, SEM)
Identification of altered damage mechanisms
Project management including final report; co-operation with project partners and industry

Your qualifications

Successfully completed university degree (M.Sc./M.Eng.) and PhD in the field of Polymer Science or comparable
Experience in the field of mechanical testing or environmental stress cracking and damage mechanisms
Ideally, expertise in polymer durability or experience in the use of thermoanalytical methods and microscopy
Very good knowledge of German and English (written and spoken)
Ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate
Goal-oriented and structured way of working, as well as initiative commitment
Good communication skills including publications in scientific journals and presentations at international conferences
Willingness to learn and interested in interdisciplinary, applied research
