Position Overview
This is part-time drivers to operate the DawgRide evening shuttle. DawgRide provides safe, on-demand transportation for students across campus and nearby areas during evening hours. Drivers play a critical role in supporting student safety, well-being, and access by transporting students to and from approved locations using a mobile dispatch application.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate a university shuttle vehicle during assigned evening shifts
- Use a mobile app-based dispatch system to receive ride requests, navigate to pick-up locations, and complete drop-offs
- Provide courteous, professional, and supportive service to student riders
- Follow all traffic laws, university driving policies, and safety protocols
- Conduct basic pre- and post-shift vehicle checks and report any concerns
- Maintain accurate trip logs and app usage as required
- Communicate effectively with dispatch or supervisors regarding delays, incidents, or concerns
- Help ensure a calm, respectful, and safe ride environment for all passengers.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain an acceptable driving record in accordance with University policy.
- Minimum age of 21 (for insurance eligibility)
- Ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle record check
- Comfort using smartphone apps for navigation and ride management
- Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and dependability
- Ability to work independently during evening hours
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience driving passengers (shuttle, rideshare, delivery, etc.)
- Familiarity with Butler University’s campus and surrounding area
- Experience working with college students or in customer-facing roles
