Job Description
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine-Chattanooga is seeking a full-time, non-tenured Open Rank Professor. This position offers an opportunity to practice in a high-acuity environment within a Level I trauma center while contributing to the missions of clinical care, education, and research.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive clinical care in trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care, including operative and ICU management.
- Participate in trauma call coverage and multidisciplinary critical care teams.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows within an ACGME-accredited training program.
- Engage in scholarly activity, including clinical outcomes research, quality improvement, and academic dissemination.
- Contribute to departmental, institutional, and trauma system initiatives.
Commitment to academic surgery, education, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Demonstrated interest in research and scholarly productivity. Strong communication and leadership skills. Dedication to high-quality, patient-centered care in complex surgical and critical care settings.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: MD or equivalent degree.
LICENSES: Board certified in Trauma/Surgical Critical Care Surgery. Must be licensed or license eligible in Tennessee.
