Job Summary
The Clear Creek Makerspace (CCM) in Wheat Ridge, CO is seeking enthusiastic, creative RRCC work-study student innovators to help run our state-of-the-art makerspace. We encourage all candidates with an enthusiasm for emergent technology, tinkering, discovery, creative design, and a mind for DIY projects to apply.
CCM is a cutting-edge 7,500 square foot makerspace and one of Metro Denver's largest creative crafting destinations, designed to foster collaborative design projects in Wheat Ridge, Denver, and across the Front Range. Open to everyone regardless of experience or ability, CCM encourages and builds upon project-based learning at all levels, offering regular training workshops and engaging, fun events on equipment usage, prototyping, design, and small business development. The makerspace features desktop FDM and SLA 3D printing, CO2 and fiber laser cutters, electronics and testing equipment, textiles, crafting, vinyl cutting, leatherworking, 3D scanning, 3D modeling and CAD, advanced woodshop and metal shop tools and equipment including CNC routers, mills, plasma cutters, and laser welders.
As a primary part of the role, Makerspace Ambassadors assist members with projects, equipment, and troubleshooting, welcome and guide drop-in visitors, lead tours of the space, enforce safety standards and operational policies, maintain equipment and organization throughout the space, and occasionally lead classes and workshops - all while serving as an enthusiastic, knowledgeable face of the CCM community.
This position reports to the CCM Director as the off-campus supervisor and Karen Tran, Manager of Work-Study and Customer Service as the on-campus supervisor. The work schedule for this position is flexible around student class schedules, with all shifts scheduled between Monday to Thursday, 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM at the Clear Creek Makerspace, located at 9110 W 44th Avenue, Wheat Ridge CO, 80033. May require hours outside of normal work schedule.
This is a work study position. This position may work up to 20 hours each week while an RRCC student, depending on class schedule, need, and budget availability. Student employees are enrolled and contribute to a TIAA-CREF account when enrolled in less than six credits.
