Position Overview
The Department of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with the University of Kansas seeks applicants for part-time & full-time lecturers to teach 100- and 300-level courses such as WGSS 101, WGSS 327, and WGSS 355. Lecturers are non-tenure-track members of the faculty whose primary role is instruction.
Lecturer contracts will be committed on an academic year basis for 1-, 2-, or 3-year appointments. Lecturers can expect to teach in the fall and spring semesters and possibility of summer. The course load is 1-2 at the undergraduate level. There is a possibility that selected lecturers could be reappointed for subsequent years if their teaching performances are strong.
This position is subject to a collective bargaining agreement between The University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AAUP, or AFT. UAKU is the exclusive representative. As the State of Kansas is a right to work state, you have the right to be a member or not be a member of a union without fear of personal or professional repercussions.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. prior to the start date of the position.
Job Description
100% Instructional Duties:
- Teach 1-2 number of undergraduate/graduate courses per semester, a total of 3-6 credit hours.
- Prepare for and attend all class meetings. Provide timely feedback and interaction with students.
- Provide instruction for courses.
- Administer assignments, tests, evaluate student work, assign grades.
- Hold regular office hours.
- Adhere to departmental, college, and University policies.
Required Qualifications
- MA in discipline or relevant field OR BA in discipline & 5 years of relevant experience.
