Job Summary
Directs the softball programs maintaining a successful softball program for Blinn College District.
Principal Accountabilities
- Directs all aspects of the softball program, including but not limited to on-field coaching, supervision of Athletic Assistant, student trainers and volunteers, financial aid, housing, food service and academics.
- Develop a recruitment plan and actively recruit student athletes, which adhere to College and NJCAA Policies and Procedures.
- Develop game schedules for both the softball program and coordinates all team travel and similar responsibilities for out-of-town tournaments.
- Travel and work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of the program.
- Provide help with academic advising to each player in the development of class schedules.
- Establish and maintain an ethical and moral code of behavior and living that is expected of the players that are residing on campus and off campus.
- Provides effective supervision of softball student athletes in the generic areas of practice, competition and life management.
- Work cooperatively with the Director of Athletics and Marketing and Media Relations, as well as all other departments at Blinn College District to establish and provide effective communication regarding the programs.
- Support the philosophy and mission of the College.
- Effectively manages the budget for the softball program and manage the fiscal resources for the program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Required Degree, License or Certifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Three years' experience coaching intercollegiate athletics.
Minimum Competencies
- Working knowledge of rules and strategies related to intercollegiate softball.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Some travel
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain one.
Preferred Qualifications
Recruiting experience with intercollegiate athletics.
Preferred Competencies
Knowledge of budget reconciliation.
