Position Summary
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama is seeking a full-time, clinical assistant professor of elementary education (grades PreK-6) with expertise in mathematics education. The University of Alabama is a Research I institution with considerable emphasis on recruiting productive scholars and effective instructors. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position with a contract of three years, eligible for renewal.
Detailed Position Information
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at The University of Alabama is seeking a full-time, clinical assistant professor of elementary education (grades PreK-6) with expertise in mathematics education. The University of Alabama is a Research I institution with considerable emphasis on recruiting productive scholars and effective instructors. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position with a contract of three years, eligible for renewal.
Responsibilities:
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses focused on grades PK-6 mathematics education
• Supervise practicum and internship experiences as needed
• Collaborate in further development of innovative undergraduate and graduate grades PK-6 mathematics education courses and programs
• Collaborate with local schools and school systems
• Provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations
• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students
Starting Date: August 16, 2027
Minimum Qualifications
• Earned Doctorate in Elementary Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or relevant field with a mathematics education focus
• Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses in the Elementary Education program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction
• Ability to supervise undergraduate and graduate students and interns
• Ability to provide service within the University, to state and local education agencies, and to relevant professional organizations
• Demonstrated potential to collaborate in elementary schools through partnership activities
• Demonstrated expertise in research-based ambitious and equitable mathematics instruction
• Demonstrated professional experience with elementary students of at least 2 years; experience teaching university mathematics education courses is desirable
