Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Earth Sciences Department/Natural Sciences Division is seeking adjunct instructors to teach a variety of courses ranging from geology to meteorology to climate science. Most courses are intended for general education non-major students with a small portion of Earth Science or Geology majors. The department has a variety of equipment and samples for geology and oceanography to use for demonstrations or hands-on experiences. Currently, lecture courses are available with the possibility of lab and field courses in the future.

The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration.

Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s in geology, geophysics, earth sciences, meteorology, oceanography or paleontology OR Bachelor’s in geology AND Master’s in geography, physics, or geochemistry
OR
Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
OR
The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.

Desirable Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONSExperience teaching undergraduate Earth Science courses for non-majors.
Experience in incorporating student-centered learning strategies and active learning pedagogy.Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.
Salary Range: $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lecture unit rate, $1572.67 - $1725.85 per lab parity unit rate, $1258.16 - $1380.60 per lab unit rate

This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.
This is a continuous recruitment to fill part-time, and temporary faculty assignments on an as-needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part-time faculty.
