Successful candidates should have a demonstrated ability to build a world-class research programme related to CityUHK’s strategic research areas, plus a commitment to education and student mentorship. Candidates must possess a doctorate in their respective field by the time of appointment.
Duties
Conduct quality and innovative research and publish in high-impact journals; teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and undertake administrative duties in course development, student activities, or programme management.
Requirements
A PhD in Computational Linguistics/Psycholinguistics/Neurolinguistics or related disciplines with competence in undertaking teaching and research in Linguistics and Language Applications, particularly in the following interdisciplinary areas: computational linguistics, AI and language, natural language processing, in addition to other areas such as experimental linguistics. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong interest, training and publication record in interdisciplinary research, especially for senior posts at Associate Professor level or above.
Excellent teaching and professional experience with international exposure and establishment, strong research and administrative ability, and a proven record of publications would be advantages.
- Candidates for Chair Professor and Professor should have outstanding research/grant records and international reputation.
- Candidates for Associate Professor should have a number of high-impact publications and grants, and a demonstrated ability/potential to develop a research area on their own.
- Candidates for Assistant Professor should have demonstrated potential for high-impact publication and grant capture.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
