ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. The HCC Bus Drivers report directly to and are responsible to the Director of Facilities.
B. The HCC Bus Drivers coordinate most closely with facilities and various other internal departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
A. Major duties of this position
1. Safely operate a 45 passenger bus on public and private roads.
2. Perform pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
3. Refuel bus.
4. Monitor loading, unloading, and transportation of passengers and cargo to ensure it is done in a safe manner.
5. Understand, implement, and adhere to HCC temporary employee handbook policies and applicable state and federal regulation.
6. Coordinate the details of the assigned trip, from dispatch to departure, with group leader or coach.
7. Must fulfill at least 1 bus assignment during the fall and spring semester.
8. Must be comfortable and able to drive in conjested areas such as Washington, DC.
9. Must be able to perform all other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must have a clean driving recordMust have class “B” CDL with “P” endorsementMust have a current DOT physicalPrevious bus driver experience requested-3 years or more preferredExperience driving a public school bus preferredMust have basic knowledge of passenger carrying regulations
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to perform required vehicle inspection and fuelingMust adhere to state and federal regulationsMust be flexible to accommodate varying work hoursMust be able to communicate effectively
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Must be able to bend, reach, and lift approximately 5-10 pounds.Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
Organization
Hagerstown Community College (HCC) was founded in 1946 as the first of its kind in Maryland. More than 100 programs of study are available for university transfer, career preparation, and personal enrichment. HCC also offers non-credit continuing education courses and customized training programs, as well as remedial and developmental courses to help students prepare for college-level offerings. Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, HCC awards associate degrees, certificates, and letters of recognition.
HCC employs approximately 540 individuals each year in full and part-time positions. Hundreds of student workers and campus volunteers also serve the campus community.
