Job Description Summary: The Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at The University of Kansas Medical Center provides high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered care within their area of specialization, including the evaluation, treatment, and ongoing management of inpatient consultation services. This position is jointly employed by The University of Kansas Medical Center and The University of Kansas Health System and supports the clinical, educational, research, and service missions of both institutions.
In addition to clinical responsibilities, the faculty member actively participates in the education and mentorship of learners, including medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees. The individual also contributes to departmental and divisional academic activities through teaching, scholarly engagement, committee service, and other activities that advance the missions of the department, division, and institution.

Job Duties:
- Provide specialized clinical, educational, and/or research services within area of expertise using current, evidence-based practices and techniques.
- Deliver comprehensive services across clinical settings, classroom environments, laboratory settings, or a combination thereof.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary clinical teams, research groups, academic programs, and institutional partners to support patient care, program development, innovation, and scholarly activity.
- Contribute to the education, training, and mentorship of learners, including students, trainees, and other designated groups.
- Participate in departmental and divisional meetings, case conferences, teaching rounds, seminars, and other academic activities as assigned.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in their area of specialization, including clinical practice, procedural skills, teaching, and/or research focus.

Required Qualifications:
Education: M.D., D.O. or equivalent.
- This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
Certifications/Licenses:
- ABPN board certification/board eligibility in General Psychiatry.
- Hold a medical license (or be eligible for licensure) in the State of Kansas and State of Missouri.
Work Experience: Experience in an academic teaching center and psychiatric consultation experience.
