GENERAL JOB SUMMARY:
Kirkwood Community College’s Industrial Technologies Department is seeking a part-time instructor for ATR-303 Mechanical Power Transmission (4 credit hours). A successful candidate will have at least three years of experience installing and maintaining a variety of mechanical power transmission systems, including torque and tensioning systems, couplings, chain drives, pulley drives, bearings, gear drives, motor leveling, and system alignment. Candidates should be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to students in a hands-on learning environment.

Section B: M/W, 3:30-5:30, August 24 to December 11
Section C: T/TH, 3:30-5:30, August 25 to December 11
Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide face-to-face instruction in discipline
- Teach using the department’s established curriculum, syllabus, and assessments while collaborating with faculty to maintain consistency across course sections.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis.
- Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System to post course syllabi and relevant documents and provide access to the student grade book.
- Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.

- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6000 hours of employment installing and maintaining mechanical systems OR
- An associate’s degree in industrial maintenance or related field and 3000 hours of employment installing and maintaining mechanical systems OR
- A bachelor’s degree in industrial maintenance or related field OR
- A bachelor’s degree in any field with at least 12 credit hours of coursework related to mechanical systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
- Previous experience in face-to-face instruction at a community college.
- Demonstrated success working with ESL students and supporting diverse learning needs.
- Prior use of a learning management system.
