About Zachary

Dr. Zachary Breig is a Senior Lecturer with tenure in the School of Economics at the University of Queensland, a position he assumed in 2024 following his role as Lecturer from 2017 to 2023, during which he attained tenure in 2020. He belongs to the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law. Breig obtained his PhD in Economics from the University of California, San Diego in 2017, a Master of Arts in Economics from the same university in 2013, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley in 2012.

Breig specialises in behavioural economics, game theory, and decision theory. He is a member of the University of Queensland's Centre for Unified Behavioural and Economic Sciences (CUBES) and manages the CUBES laboratory. His research contributions have appeared in prominent journals such as Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, Experimental Economics, Theory and Decision, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Economics Letters, and Economic Record. Key publications include 'Repeated contracting without commitment' (Journal of Economic Theory, 2022), 'Agency breadth and political influence' with Mitch Downey (Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, 2021), 'Revealing risky mistakes through revisions' with Paul Feldman (Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, 2024), 'Revealed preference tests for linear probability-prize tradeoffs' with Paul Feldman (Theory and Decision, 2025), and 'Competition between sellers in security-bid auctions: An experimental study' with Allan Hernandez-Chanto and Elliot Hiller (Experimental Economics, 2025).
