About William

Dr William Westerman serves as an Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Humanities & Social Sciences at UNSW Canberra, University of New South Wales. His academic background includes a PhD from UNSW Canberra completed in 2014, with a thesis titled Soldiers and Gentlemen: Australian Battalion Commanders in the Great War, 1914-1918, which was published as a book by Cambridge University Press in 2017. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts with first class honours in History from the University of Melbourne. Westerman's research specializations encompass Australian military history, First World War studies, and contemporary warfare. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.
