About Vanitha Rani

Dr. Vanitha Rani N serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Tagore College of Pharmacy, Chennai. She earned her B.Pharm from Madras Medical College, The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai in 1997; M.Pharm from Sri Ramachandra College of Pharmacy, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai in 2005; Ph.D from the same institution in 2016; and M.Sc in Applied Psychology through distance learning from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore in 2019. With 20 years of teaching experience and 11 years of research experience, she has guided a total of 40 M.Pharm and Pharm.D projects along with 5 B.Pharm projects. Her career also includes clinical training at Munroe Community Hospital, Wegmans School of Pharmacy, St. Johns Fishers College, Rochester, USA, from May 12 to 26, 2016.

Dr. Vanitha Rani N's research focuses on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) assessments, pharmacoepidemiology and risk assessment, and biomarker studies. She has produced 82 publications and one book. Key recent Scopus-indexed publications include: 'Effect of platelet-rich plasma versus placebo or corticosteroid for knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials' in Journal of Clinical Orthopedics and Trauma (2025); 'Acceptance and reluctance of COVID-19 vaccination among the general population: a systematic review and meta-analysis of cross-sectional studies' in Journal of Applied Pharmaceutical Science (2025); 'Activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule/CD166 as a non-invasive biomarker in women with breast cancer' in Clinical Epidemiology and Global Health (2025); 'Prevalence of Hypocalcemia in Pediatrics with Lower Respiratory Tract Infections' in Clinical Pediatrics (2025); and 'Effect of Teneligliptin 20 mg twice daily on Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Levels and Its Influence on Non-Glycemic Components in Non-Diabetic Obese Individuals' in Metabolic Syndrome and Related Disorders (2024). Earlier works encompass prediction of malnutrition in hemodialysis patients (Indian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2011, 115 citations), usage of complementary medicine in chronic kidney disease (Journal of Pharmacy and Bioallied Sciences, 2016, 87 citations), and drug-drug interactions in cancer patients (Journal of Postgraduate Medicine, 2011, 48 citations). Her research has garnered over 800 citations on Google Scholar. She has attended 27 conferences and seminars, presented 22 papers, and participated in 20 faculty development programs or workshops.
