Dr Truc Le is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Tourism and Marketing, Griffith Business School, at Griffith University. She is Co-Lead of the Visitor Economy Data Analytics and Indicators Cluster within the Griffith Institute for Tourism. Le earned her PhD from the Department of Tourism, Sport and Hotel Management at Griffith University in 2020 and a Bachelor of Business with First Class Honours from the same department in 2016. Before her academic appointment, she served as a Research Consultant at EarthCheck Australia, focusing on risk, resilience, and sustainable tourism. At Griffith, her roles have included Research Assistant (2014-2021), Sessional Tutor and Lecturer (2015-2021), Associate Lecturer (2021), and Lecturer leading to Senior Lecturer since 2022. An experienced educator, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in tourism, hospitality, events, and financial management.
Her research specializations include cultural and heritage tourism experiences, addressing authenticity, sustainability, resilience, and augmented/virtual reality applications. Le employs advanced analytics tools such as machine learning and AI on tourism data from Tourism Research Australia and the Australian Bureau of Statistics. She conducts consultancy for Southeast Asian tourism markets. Le has authored numerous publications in leading journals, including "How authenticity in events fosters social sustainability: Towards an authenticity ecosystem and implications for destination management" (Tourism Management Perspectives, 2024), "Re-imagining delightful experiences in “New Normal” conditions" (International Journal of Hospitality Management, 2024), "Recreating history: The evolving negotiation of staged authenticity in tourism experiences" (Tourism Management, 2022), and "Producing authenticity in restaurant experiences" (2021). With over 1,000 Google Scholar citations, her work influences discussions on authenticity, risk perception, and resilience in tourism and hospitality. She has contributed to securing up to $9.75 million in research funding. Awards include the 2022 CAUTHE Early Career Researcher Fellows Award and Highly Commended in the 2023 and 2024 Pro Vice-Chancellor (PVC) Research Excellence Awards for Early Career Researchers. Le is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and holds editorial positions: Associate Editor of Journal of Vacation Marketing, Review Editor for Frontiers in Sustainable Tourism, and Editorial Board Member of Event Management.
