About Teo

Teo Urushadze is a professor at the Agricultural University of Georgia, where he currently serves as Dean of the School of Agronomy and Landscape Management. He earned his degree in agronomy from the Georgian State Agricultural Institute in 1990. In 1994, he defended his candidate dissertation, and in 2003, his doctoral dissertation, receiving the academic title of Doctor of Agricultural Sciences. Additionally, in 1995, he completed a master's program in agribusiness management at the International Center for Environmental and Planning Management at Atlanta University. From 2005 to 2006, he underwent retraining courses at the University of Kassel in Germany. His career at the Agricultural University of Georgia began in 1991 in various positions, becoming a full professor in 2006. He served as Dean of the Agronomy Faculty starting in 2011 and assumed the role of Dean of the School of Agrarian and Natural Sciences in 2013.

Urushadze has actively participated in numerous international projects, including leading the South Caucasus Compost project from 2009 to 2012, coordinating the Tempus project on a New Master's Program in Applied Biosciences from 2010 to 2013, and directing the Volkswagen Foundation-funded Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Doctoral Program from 2017 to 2023. He also coordinated the ENPARD project on Institutional Strengthening of Agricultural Educational and Research Organizations from 2015 to 2018. Between 1998 and 2011, he worked on projects financed by the World Bank and IFAD. His research interests focus on soil research, including physical properties of soils and agrochemical characterization. Key publications include 'Field Soil Research' (2020, co-authored with Tengiz Urushadze, Tamar Kvrivishvili, Giuli Tsereteli, and Rusudan Kakhadze), 'Physical properties of the soils of Georgia' (2017, co-authored with Jorbenadze, Kunchulia), and contributions to studies on heavy metal levels in milk and cheese (2021), water quality assessments (2018), and paradigm shifts in water quality governance (2018).
