Dr. Tameca Jewell Beckett serves as Assistant Professor of Instruction in the School of Information within the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of South Florida. As a skilled software and data engineer, dedicated scholar-practitioner, and information professional, she harbors a profound passion for fostering student success at the intersections of data, technology, and research. With over a decade of experience as an architect for engagement and catalyst for dialogue within communities, Dr. Beckett believes in the value of free, open access to information and is committed to sharing innovative, data-driven solutions that blend technology and creativity. Leveraging her background in education, data analytics, and research, she has served her communities in various capacities, including as a public library director, data engineering fellow, and academic librarian.
Dr. Beckett holds an Ed.D. from Delaware State University, an M.L.S. from San Jose State University, and a B.S. from the University of Maine at Augusta. Formerly a Board Member for the National Association of Rural and Small Libraries, she was awarded the American Library Association's 2014 Emerging Leader Award and the Rodel Foundation iEducate Delaware Award. She developed a groundbreaking model that combines appreciative inquiry and context personalization, recognized with the peer-reviewed publication: Beckett, T. J., & Murphy, O. (2020).
