Suzanne Rosenblith is Dean and Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, a position she has held since 2017. In this role, she oversees doctoral programs, an online Master of Education degree, and key initiatives in areas such as learning sciences, teacher residency programs, and community engagement. Prior to her appointment at UB, Rosenblith served as Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and Professor of Educational Foundations at Clemson University. Her extensive career reflects a commitment to advancing educational leadership and scholarship in foundational aspects of education.
Rosenblith earned her PhD in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2001, a Master of Science in Experiential Education from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1995, and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Muhlenberg College in 1991. Her main academic specialty is philosophy of education, with research focuses including diversity, legal issues, politics of education, the role of religion in public schools, civic education, and religious literacy. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on these topics. Key publications include 'Religion in Schools in the United States' in the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Education (2017), 'Cultivating a Religiously Literate Society: Challenges and Possibilities for America's Public Schools' (2008), 'Between Mere Tolerance and Robust Respect: Mutuality as a Basis for Civic Education,' and contributions to works on public school credits for devotional courses in religion and comprehensive religious studies in public education. Rosenblith actively participates in public discourse on educational policy, including the objective teaching of religion in public schools, and leads efforts in racial equity teach-ins and literacy advancement at UB.
