Stuart Kollmorgen serves as a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at Monash University, where he teaches the unit Law of Employment (LAW4132). His academic background includes a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Science in HR and Management from King's College London, and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership through Coaching from Queensland University of Technology. He also holds certificates in positive psychology and project management methods. Kollmorgen's research interests encompass the nature of working relationships, employment law, labor economics, and positive psychology and work. His ongoing projects include 'The Nature of Working Relationships in the Gig Economy' and 'Optimising the Employee Experience of Redundancy in a Twelve to Fifteen Career Lifetime'.
Kollmorgen has authored publications such as 'Change from Within: Reforming Trade Union Coverage and Structure' (1991), 'Genuine and "Postmodern" Industrial Demands: The State Public Services Federation Decision and Federal Tribunal Practice' (1994), 'Internet and email communication' (2000), and 'What Remains of Managerial Prerogative in "Operational Requirements" Dismissals?' (1995). Working as an employment and industrial relations lawyer, he offers expertise on topics including workplace contracts and employee rights. In 2019, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to the LGBTIQ community and sporting organisations. His contributions include serving as Deputy Board Chair of the Victorian Pride Centre, chairing its Fundraising Committee, and architecting the Pride Centre’s Founders Fund; acting as inaugural volunteer lawyer at the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre; directing the Midsumma Festival for five years; initiating the first pride group at Norton Rose Fulbright; chairing LIVOut, the first LGBT pride group of the Law Institute of Victoria; and helping bring the Outgames to Melbourne.
