Steven E. Deso, MD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine. He specializes in vascular interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology, board-certified by the American Board of Radiology in both areas. Practicing within the University of Vermont Health Network, Dr. Deso serves as the Site Director of Interventional Radiology at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, New York, and is affiliated with the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont, as well as other network locations including Central Vermont Medical Center, Porter Medical Center, and Alice Hyde Medical Center. He diagnoses and treats a wide variety of conditions using minimally invasive procedures that previously required surgery.
Dr. Deso earned his Doctor of Medicine from Boston University School of Medicine in 2010, along with a Master of Science in Engineering Mechanics and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Science and Mechanics from Virginia Polytechnic and State University. His training included a transitional internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (2010-2011), residency in diagnostic radiology (2011-2015), and fellowship in vascular interventional radiology (2016) at Stanford University. He joined the University of Vermont Health Network in 2016. Dr. Deso's research centers on inferior vena cava filters, with publications such as "Evidence-Based Evaluation of Inferior Vena Cava Filter Complications Based on Filter Type" (Seminars in Interventional Radiology, 2016), "Inferior Vena Cava Filter Elucidation: How to Identify Specific Inferior Vena Cava Filter Types on Multi-Detector-Row Computed Tomography Imaging" (Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography, 2016), and "Creation of an iOS and Android Mobile Application for Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) Filters: A Powerful Tool to Optimize Care of Patients with IVC Filters" (Seminars in Interventional Radiology, 2016). He emphasizes patient-centered care through close collaboration.
